How to Perform Tricks With a Wii Remote on Mario Kart

In "Mario Kart Wii," you play as one of Nintendo's famed classic characters as you race for the finish line in a speedy car or bike. The game even features an online mode, allowing you to race against other people around the world. If you don't know how to perform certain tricks with the Wii remote, you're likely to get left far behind other racers, especially in the more difficult modes. Learning these tricks lets you speed past the competition so you can earn first place.

Instructions

    • 1

Enter any desired race. At the beginning of the race, a timer counts down before you are able to drive. When the "2" on the timer is fading away, press and hold down the "2" button on the Wii remote. This gives you a boost of speed.

    • 2

Press the "2" button as soon as you land on the ground after recovering from a fall. This gives you a quick boost, letting you avoid slow acceleration.

    • 3

Press the "Up" button on the Wii remote, or flick the remote upwards, as soon as you launch your vehicle from a ramp. This lets you do a trick, giving you a speed boost when you land.

    • 4

Flick the Wii remote up, or press "Up," when riding a bike at any time. This allows you to perform a wheelie, resulting in a four-second speed boost. When you do this, you cannot steer, and other racers can bump you off the track.

    • 5

Hold down "A" and "B" together, and turn either left or right, if you need to quickly turn your vehicle around.
