How to Check the Battery Level in a Wii Remote

The Nintendo Wii's main controller, which is called the Wii Remote, relies on wireless technology to connect to the Wii console. Unlike the controllers for past Nintendo consoles, each Wii Remote requires batteries to operate. If the batteries die while you are in the middle of playing a game, the Wii Remote will lose its connection to the console, disrupting your gaming experience. To prevent this from happening, you can check your Wii Remote's battery level and replace its batteries if they are running low on power.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the Wii Remote and the Wii.

    • 2

Push the Wii Remote's "Home" button, which is located in the middle of the controller between the "-" and "+" buttons. This will open the "HOME Menu."

    • 3

Point to the Wii Remote graphic in the menu and select it.

    • 4

View the Wii Remotes' battery levels on the bottom of the screen; it will display the battery levels of all the Wii Remotes currently connected to the console.
