How to Hook Up a Wii to a Hi-Def Plasma TV

The Nintendo Wii is a gaming console manufactured by the Nintendo Entertainment Company. Unlike the Sony PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, the Nintendo Wii is not a high-definition device. Consequently, no HDMI cable is available to connect to an HD plasma television. However, the Wii does come with a component audio/video hook-up that provides the best video and audio signals available on the game console.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the single connector on the component video cable into the "Component Out" port on the Nintendo Wii. The single cable connector is rectangular, while the other end of the cable has five audio and video plugs that connect directly to your TV. The connection port on the Nintendo Wii is labeled "A/V."

Insert the red, green and blue component video ends of the cable into the "Component In" ports on the television. These ports are located on the back of the TV and marked "Component Video." You'll notice two red cables on the A/V cable connection -- one is marked "Video" and the other is marked "Audio." Use the cable marked "Video" for this step.

    • 3

Plug the white and remaining red cable into the "Audio In" ports on the HD plasma television.

    • 4

Switch on the HD plasma television and the Nintendo Wii. Choose "Component Video" as the display option on the television. The video game programming now loads onto the television screen.
