Cool Wii Tips

The Nintendo Wii has many features that users may not know about. The features that go by unnoticed are useful for game play as well as other uses of the Wii system. The possibilities range from changing the volume of your Wii remote to transferring Wii saves to other consoles.
  1. Transfer Miis and Wii Game Saves

    • The Mii characters represent you as an avatar in many different Wii games. When you are in the Mii channel, click on a specific Mii and press "A." Different menu options will appear around the screen. Use your remote or a guest remote to drag and drop the Wii characters into the secondary menu. The remotes have a built in micro memory chip that allows you to store up to 10 Miis on the remote. You can easily use your own Mii at your friend's house by simply bringing your remote. You can also send your Mii character to your friend's Wii system via wi-fi. You can also transfer game saves to other Wii consoles via an SD card. Put the SD card into the front slot of the Wii console and go to the "Data Management" menu of the Wii. Once there, press "A" on "Save Data." Select the specific game save you would like to transfer by pressing "A" on it to select it. Afterward, press "A" on "Copy" to copy the game save to your SD card. You can insert the SD card into the other Wii system and transfer the save onto that Wii; just don't forget the game disc.

    Wii Remote Secrets

    • The Wii remote has many features you may not know about. For example, you can set the remotes in the order that you would like to arrange them. Press the "Home" button on the Wii remote and press "A" on "Wii Remote Settings." Click on the "Reconnect" button next to "Connection." Press the "1" and "2" buttons simultaneously on each remote in the desired player order. The LED lights are numbered from one to four on the remotes indicating the remote player you are currently set to. Changing the number of your remote simply changes the player number and does not affect the gameplay. Turn the rumble off on the Wii remote or change the volume by pressing the "Home" button on the remote and pressing "A." Change the volume by clicking on the specific volume bar you would like it to be at. To turn the rumble off in the remote, simply press "A" on the "Off" button in the "Rumble" tab.

    Rearrange Wii Menus

    • You can rearrange the channels in the Wii menu by moving your cursor over the specific channel you want to move and holding the "A" and "B" buttons on the Wii remote at the same time. Move the channel to the specific vacant channel spot you would like and let go to drop it into place. You may also move messages on the Wii message board using the same technique.

    Add Wii Friends

    • You can add friends to your Wii console by adding their Wii numbers into your Wii address book. You must have a wi-fi connection or wired connection set up on your Wii console to be able to use this function. After you have entered your friend's Wii number, you can send a message to her Wii console from your Wii. Once you have either a wireless or wired connection set up for your Wii console and are connected to the Internet, you will be able to network with Wii consoles around the world as long as you have their specific Wii number.
