How to Install Homebrew on Wii 4.0

Many types of electronics, such as cellphones and gaming consoles, are limited in what they can do because of the software they use to operate. Some of these devices can be unlocked so the user has more control in customizing them. Unlocking the Nintendo Wii console is commonly referred to as a softmod, short for software modification. The softmod used on this console is called Homebrew, through which users can install user-created applications and games such as music players.

Instructions

    • 1

Download Bannerbomb version 1 from the Bannerbomb website. Open the downloaded file and place its contents on an SD memory card.

    • 2

Download the HackMii installer from the same location, rename the installer.elf file to boot.elf and place it on the SD memory card.

    • 3

Insert the SD card into the Wii console. Go to the Data Management section of the Wii option menu and click the SD card icon. The Multi-Mod Manager should load.
