Wii Homebrew Instructions

Visit the WiiBrew -- Smash Stack website and click on "Download" to save the Smash Stack exploit to your computer. Extract the program to a directory on your computer. Navigate to the BootMii website and click on "HackMii Installer v0.8" to download the HackMii Installer to your computer. Extract the contents of the HackMii Installer to the directory where you saved the Smash Stack folder. You can download Homebrew applications, emulators, media players and more for your Wii at the WiiBrew - Applications List website. Extract the folders to your computer.

Prepare your SD card for use with your Wii console. The SD card needs to be formatted as a FAT32 system partition so that the Wii console can access the files structure and read the card accordingly. You can format the SD card by inserting it into your computer and clicking ion "My Computer" and right-click on your SD card. Once your right-click on the SD card, a sub-menu will appear; scroll down to the option "Format" and click on it. Click on the box "Quick Format" to format the SD card quickly. Click on the box "FAT32" to format the SD card as the FAT32 partition so that the Wii can read the card properly. Click "Start" when you are ready to format the SD card.

Create a new folder in the root of your SD card by right-clicking in the root directory of the SD card and selecting "New" and "Folder" from the sub menu. This will allow you to create a new folder that you can add Homebrew applications to. Name the folder "Apps." Move the Smash Stack private folder and the "boot.elf" file from the HackMii Installer to the root of the SD card. Place your Homebrew applications into the "Apps" folder and place corresponding files for applications on the root of the SD card if applicable. See the specific installation guide for each Wii Homebrew applicaion.

Eject the SD card from your computer and insert it into the SD slot on your Wii console. Turn the Wii on and insert the Super Smash Bros Brawl game into the Wii game disc slot. Start the Super Smash Bros Brawl game and go to the "Stage Creator" on the game. Once you do, the Super Smash Stack exploit will load. Once the exploit loads, press "A" on your Wiimote to continue. Scroll down to "Install Homebrew Channel" by using the down key on your Wiimote. Press "A" to confirm that you wish to install the Homebrew Channel. Install BootMii as "Boot 2" if possible, if not install it as an "IOS." BootMii will allow you to restore your Wii in the event of a bricked console. A bricked console is when the system malfunctions and goes to a black screen or gives an error code that prevent you from going to the main menu or the modified dashboard you have set on the Wii console.

Reboot your Wii and start it back up. There will be a new Homebrew Channel icon on your Wiimote. You may move the channel to the desired location by pressing "A" and "B" together on the Wiimote to move it. Press "A" on the Homebrew Channel and "Start" to launch it. Your applications will load once you load the Homebrew Channel. You can load the applications by pressing "A" on the icon and "A" again on "Load" to start the application. See the instructions with each specific application. You have successfully installed the Homebrew Channel onto your Wii console.
