How to Update Your iOS to iOS 53

The operating system on the Nintendo Wii is known as iOS. Programmers have developed an operating system that will allow users to run user created games like "New Super Mario." In order to get iOS 53 on your Nintendo Wii, you will need to download it from the creator's website. You don't have to be a Nintendo programmer to load this operating system onto your Wii. You can do it yourself with just a couple clicks of the mouse.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove your Wii's SD card from the card reader and insert it into your home computer. Click the "Computer" icon and then click on the SD card's icon from the window that appears.

    • 2

Right-click on the empty space in the window and select the "New Folder" option from the menu. Label the new folder as "Wads." If you see one already in the window, leave it alone. Click on the "Apps" folder and then create a new folder called "Wad Manager" inside the "Apps" folder.

    • 3

Go to the "QJs" website and download the "Wii Wad Manager" from the download icon. Save the ZIP file to your computer's desktop from the window that appears.

    • 4

Click on the ZIP file and click on the "Boot.dol" file from the menu that appears. Drag the boot.dol file into the Wad Manager folder on your SD card.

    • 5

Go to the "Wii Hacks" website (see References) and download the iOS38 and iOS55 files from the Web page.

    • 6

Drag the iOS53 wad file to the "Wads" folder on your SD card. Remove the SD card from your computer and then put back into the Wii. Go to the "Homebrew Channel" on the Wii's main screen.

    • 7

Click on the "Wii Wad Manager" icon from the applications list. Go to the "Load" icon on the screen and then press the "A" button on your Wii remote. Click on the SD card icon from the loading options screen.

    • 8

Go to the iOS53 icon from the menu and then press the "A" button to install the operating system. Restart your Wii after the completion screen appears on the screen for the iOS53 changes to take effect.
