How to Backup Wiis

It is a good idea to back up data such as downloaded games, channels and saved game information for the Wii console to ensure that you do not lose it. To do this, the Wii allows users to transfer information to a compatible SD card with a capacity of 2 GB or less. Before you can use an SD card to backup Wii data, the console must first be connected to the Internet so that the latest system update can be downloaded.

      Open the flap below the disc tray on the Wii console and insert an SD card with the label facing toward the disc tray.

      Turn on the console and go to the Wii menu.

      Click on the "Wii Settings" icon in the bottom left corner and then select "Data Management."

      Select the data type that you want to back up, either "Wii Channels" or "Save Data."

      Click on the channels or data files you want to back up and select "Yes" when asked "Copy to SD Card?"
