How to Get to Mario World Games

Super Mario World came out in 1991, so finding a copy of the game cartridge is difficult and expensive -- and playing it would require the use of a working Super Nintendo system. Luckily, Wii owners have access to many of Super Nintendo's greatest hits, including Super Mario World, via download from the Wii Shop Channel. An instant classic, Super Mario World was the first Mario game for the Super Nintendo system. It also introduced the world to characters like Yoshi and game elements like the Ghost House and multiple solutions to levels.

Wii Virtual Console With Classic Controller or Gamecube Controller

  Buy Wii Point Cards from your local video game store. You will need at least 800 Wii Points to purchase a Super Nintendo game like Super Mario World on your Wii Virtual Console. Alternatively, Wii points can be purchased directly from the Wii Shop Channel using your credit card.

  Connect to the Wii Shop Channel via the icon on the Wii home screen.

  Locate Super Mario World in the Super Nintendo section of the Wii Shop Channel.

  Download the game by clicking the "Download" button. The game will be automatically saved to your Wii Virtual Console after the download has completed.

  Go back to the Wii home screen and click the new "Super Mario World" icon. Click "Play Game" to begin.
