How to Edit the WBFS Partition Size

WBFS Manager is a program that backs up your Wii games so you can play them from an external hard drive. If you have already created a WBFS partition on your drive and would like to make it larger or smaller, you may encounter a few obstacles. As of 2011, drive-formatting and partition tools cannot recognize WBFS partitions and therefore cannot change their size. Instead, you should back up your games and then create a brand-new WBFS partition of the desired size.

Instructions

    • 1

Open "WBFS Manager" with your external hard drive plugged in. Input the drive letter of your WBFS partition.

    • 2

Back up all your games to your computer by selecting them all and dragging and dropping them from the right to the left pane. Close "WBFS Manager."

    • 3

Open "Disk Management" in Windows, or "Disk Utility" in OSX. Alternatively, you may use third-party disk management software.

    • 4

Right-click the WBFS partition, and choose the option to delete it.

    • 5

Click on the remaining FAT32 partition. If you want to end up with a larger WBFS partition, decrease the size of the FAT32 volume. If you want a smaller WBFS partition, increase the size of the FAT32 volume.

    • 6

Add a new partition in your disk-management utility. When prompted to format it, click "No." Remember the drive letter assigned to your new partition.

    • 7

Open "WBFS Manager." Input the drive letter of your new partition and click "Yes" to format it.

    • 8

Drag and drop all your backed up games to the new WBFS partition.
