Deflecting, Dodging and Blocking
Every time character is hit, he loses some of his health. When he runs out of health, he falls unconscious. In one-on-one fights, this ends the round. In two-on-two fights, it simply removes that character from play. Players have three ways to avoid damage. The first option is to deflect, which will throw projectiles back at their source. The second option is to dodge, either by stepping away from an attack or leaping over it. The third option is to block, which will negate the damage of weak attacks. As a rule-of-thumb, use these defenses in descending order. Deflect projectiles to deliver damage to your enemy, dodge to avoid taking any damage and block if you have no better option.
Charging
Most characters have a weak attack and strong attack. By default, characters use their weak attack. They can execute strong attacks by holding down the "A" button and charging. The charge meter fills up as they do so, and once it's completely charged, their next attack does extra damage. These attacks are especially useful for ranged characters, such as Sakura, because they can charge from a safe distance without having to respond to melee attacks. Players must also remain mindful of their opponents' charge meters. If someone has a full meter, be prepared to dodge or deflect.
Chakra
In order to execute the most powerful moves, players expend chakra. The chakra meter slowly replenishes over the course of a round, allowing players to steadily perform jutsu, substitutions and other tricks. The lower a player's health meter, the faster he regenerates his chakra. This gives players an edge when they're close to defeat. Characters that are particularly reliant on their chakra, such as Kakashi with his sharingan, benefit the most from this relationship between health and regeneration. When players square off against such characters, they need to be ready to finish their opponent off quickly. Otherwise, he can mount a deadly comeback.
Minigames
"Battle Revolution" also features three minigames. Most players will notice the first one right away. "Shuriken Training" is available from the main menu right at the start of play. To access "Shadow Clone Jutsu" and "Rasengan Training," they'll need to achieve Chunin level mastery of the preceding minigame. To get Chunin in "Shuriken Training," focus your attacks on Kakashi, Naruto and Sasuke. Avoid Sakura at all costs. To get Chunin in "Shadow Clone Jutsu," note where Naruto starts and keep your attention on him. When he's still for a moment, target him with the controller and then swing the Wii remote overhand, as if you are throwing a baseball.
