Installation of the Wiikey 2

Wiikey 2 is a type of mod chip you install in your Nintendo Wii to boot specialized Wii and GameCube games. Installing a Wiikey 2 enables you to play your backup games and import Nintendo Wii and Nintendo GameCube games on your console. The Wiikey 2 mod chip makes it possible for you to play backup Wii games from Japan, Europe, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Canada. Disconnect your Nintendo Wii. Unplug the Wiimote or classic controller and any other peripherals from the gaming system. Use your Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the battery tray from the bottom of your Nintendo Wii and then remove the Wii battery tray. Remove the three Phillips screws located at the top of the battery tray with a Phillips screwdriver and two tri-wing screws with a Tri-Wing screwdriver at the bottom of the battery tray.

Position the Nintendo Wii so the disc tray faces towards you. Keep the Nintendo Wii sitting on all four feet. Remove the four hidden tri-wing screws. Two are located behind the stickers, and the other two are behind rubber feet.

Turn the Nintendo Wii upright and open the controller panels. Find the three screws along the top of the controller panels and unscrew them. Note the hole for the one longer Phillips screw. You need to screw it back in the same place when reassembling your Wii.

Turn the Wii until you see the faceplate and then slide the faceplate out of place. Unplug the connector to separate the faceplate from the video game console.

Place your Nintendo Wii on its largest side and then lift the case off the gaming system. The case should come off easily. Remove the four screws with your Phillips screwdriver.
