How to Calculate Square Feet on Wiis

Your Nintendo Wii is essentially a rectangular prism. Rectangular prisms require volume formulas; however, square feet is a measurement of area. Therefore, the Wii can have three different spots where you can calculate area: the front and back, the two sides, and the top and bottom. The calculation for each one is the same. Remember when calculating square feet, you need to use the formula length times height. In addition, since most of the measurements are under an inch, you need to convert inches to feet.

Instructions

Measure the length on the part of the Wii for which you want to find the square feet. Perform the measurement in inches, then divide the measurement by 12 inches. For example, assume a Wii measures two inches on one side, so two inches divided by 12 inches equals 0.167 feet.

    • 2

Measure the width on the same part of the Wii. The width is the non-parallel side of the first side you measured. Divide the second measurement by 12 inches. In the example, assume the non-parallel side measures seven inches. So, seven inches divided by 12 inches equals 0.583 feet.

    • 3

Multiply the two sides together. In the example, 0.167 feet times 0.583 feet equals 0.0973 square feet.
