Identifying the drive of your Wii unit is vital for any avid gamer. This information tells what video games your Wii unit supports and it is also helpful if you want to modify your Wii unit or unlock it. One way of identifying the drive of your Wii unit is to open the unit itself, but this will void the unit's warranty. Another way of identifying the unit's drive is through the unit's serial number.

  Locate the serial number on your Wii unit. The serial number is 11 digits long and is composed of letters and numbers. You can find it on a large sticker on the back of the Wii unit.

  Turn on your computer and open your Web browser.

  Go to the Wiitracker or Wiidrives website (see Resources).

  Type the serial number of your Wii unit on the "Enter your serial number" box using your keyboard.

  Hit the "Enter" button on your computer's keyboard to identify the drive chip of your Wii unit.
