How to Master Wii Fit

Wii Fit is a video game created by Nintendo for the Wii system. By standing on a balance board, players' movements are recorded onto the game, giving a lifelike feel to the exercises. The game is divided into the four categories: yoga, aerobic movements, muscle training and stability games. Activities include hula hoop, rhythm boxing, tightrope walking and 15 yoga poses. By employing certain techniques and strategies, you can increase your performance scores, unlock new activity features and master the game.

Weigh yourself accurately. The Wii Fit balance board is very sensitive. It records your movements and exercises by first gauging your weight. To ensure that the device has an accurate reading, place it on a hard, clean surface, preferably a wooden floor. Carpet and other uneven surfaces can interfere with the weight designation.

Bank time in yoga. The yoga program starts you off with only several basic poses of cobra, tree and downward facing dog. To unlock more poses, you must first master the standards and bank time on the computer. You will then be able to practice moves like chair, spinal twist and palm tree. For each pose, focus on your core center and breathe. Try to evenly distribute your weight so that no particular body part is bearing the brunt of the work. Even though you've mastered certain poses, continue to practice them and hone your yoga skills.

Make crisp aerobic movements. In the aerobics section, you will gain more points and unlock activities faster by making clean physical motions. When catching the hula hoops, lean your body to the side and reach both arms to the sky. To get perfect timing on the Basic Step game, coordinate your movements to the exact beat of the music. For the run programs, maintain a consistent pace that will eventually have you go beyond 100 percent and unlock the next levels.

Challenge the trainer. The strength training exercises are designed to build and tone your arms, legs, chest and core muscles. To increase your repetitions and motivate yourself, unlock the trainer challenge mode by performing the required number of sets. Then go head to head with your virtual opponent in the jackknife, parallel stretch and press up movements. Having a competitor will force you to dig deeper, and it will give you something to celebrate when you win.

Engage core for balance. For the balance games, move your core stomach muscles as little as possible and shift your weight to your left and right sides. To gain momentum in the ski jump game, tilt your balance over the blue dot on the screen. For the soccer game, avoid getting hit by the shoes and panda balls, but lean to the left or right side to hit the soccer balls with your head. Do not randomly move, and if you are behind on timing, skip the current ball and wait for the next one to fly at you.
