Turn on the Wii. This can be done with the power button located on the front of the Wii. Press and hold it until it turns green. Alternatively, you may use your Wii-Mote to turn the console on by pressing the power button at the top of the controller.

Move your cursor over the Wii Shop channel when the main menu comes up. The Wii Shop channel is one of the few channels that comes standard with any Wii, so your console will have it on the main menu.

Use your Wii-Mote to scroll over to the Nintendo Channel on the first page of the main menu. From here, you will be able to search for old games for every console that the Wii owns the rights to, including the Commodore 64, Dreamcast and Super Nintendo, among many others. Find the game that you are looking for and click on it. You will have to pay a fixed price for the game, but this is the only way to unlock a virtual console game.
