How to Install a Microphone on a Wii

If you want to speak to your friends as you play a Nintendo Wii game online, you must have a microphone connected to the console. A microphone is not built in to the Wii system, but Nintendo offers an accessory known as Wii Speak. This hands-free microphone connects to the Wii and allows you to communicate with others as you play, without having to worry about tripping over cords or wearing a headset.

  Turn off the Wii console, then turn it around so the ports on the back are visible.

  Plug the Wii Speak's USB cable into the USB port on the back of the console.

  Place the microphone on top of the television. The microphone has anti-slip pads on the bottom that prevent it from sliding. If the Wii Sensor Bar is on top of the television, remove the pad's liners, then align the rib on the bottom of the microphone with the groove in the Sensor Bar and place the microphone on top of the Sensor Bar. If the Wii Sensor Bar is below the television, attach the additional anti-slip pads to the microphone and remove the liners, then place the microphone on top of the television.
