How to Hook Up a Wii to a Yamaha Receiver

The Nintendo Wii can be integrated into your Yamaha A/V receiver setup without having to be routed directly to your television set. This will allow you to use the receiver's remote to switch between the various sources of audio and video being sent to your television, with a single remote. With the right instruction, you will be able to make the necessary connections between the Wii and your Yamaha receiver in less than five minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the Wii AV cable into the "A/V Multi Out" jack on the back of the gaming system console. The only A/V cable that can be used for making a proper connection between your Wii and your receiver is either the one that came with your gaming system originally or an equivalent specifically designed to work with the console.

    • 2

Plug the yellow male connector on the other end of the same cable into either your receiver's yellow "DVD" or "VCR" input port. It does not matter which one that you use, as long as the other two colored connectors are inserted into the same input source ports as well.

    • 3

Plug the red male connector on the same cable into the red female connector port on the same input source on the Yamaha receiver, then plug the white male connector into the white female port. This will establish the connection between the Wii and the receiver.

    • 4

Plug one end of the composite cable into the "Video Out" jack on the back of the receiver, then the other end into the "Video In" jack on your television. The video signal coming from the Wii will be directed through the receiver and will appear on your television screen.
