A Wii Is Unable to Download News

The Nintendo Wii has a News Channel that you can access to find out what's happening in the world. Sometimes technical issues can prevent the Wii News from being downloaded properly. You can troubleshoot these issues so that the news on the Wii News Channel will download and be updated properly.

  Make sure that your Wii is connected to the Internet. Without a connection, you cannot access the Wii News Channel and the information cannot be downloaded properly.

  Turn on the WiiConnect24 setting on your Wii. From the main menu, use your Wiimote to choose the Wii System Settings menu. Move the cursor to the blue arrow on the page to scroll to page two of the System Settings menu. Choose the WiiConnect 24 setting. This will allow your news to update and be downloaded properly.

  Download the update for the Wii News Channel if you are using it for the first time. From the main menu, use your Wiimote to choose the News Channel. The channel will ask you if you want to connect to the Internet to perform a system update. Choose yes. The update will take a few minutes, but after you have updated the channel you will be able to access the news.
