Avatars have become so widespread that entire games and even movies have been created around and about them. A Mii is a character that a Nintendo Wii user can create and personalize to reflect individual tastes and styles. Players can use Miis to reflect reality or create a virtual identity for themselves that they can share with other Wii users around the world and play with in a variety of Wii games.

  Turn on your Nintendo Wii and wait for the main menu screen to appear. From the main menu screen, look for a box marked "Mii." This is the Mii Channel that comes loaded onto a Wii when it is purchased.

  Create a Mii by choosing hair, skin and eye color as well as build, expression and types and colors of clothes.

  Go back to your Wii's main menu and select the "Wii Shop Channel" from the boxes or "channels" on the main menu screen. Navigate to the "Channels" section of the Wii Shop Channel and select the channel named "Check Mii Out." Choose to download this free channel to your Wii console.

  Go back to your main menu screen on your Wii. Select the "Check Mii Out" channel, which you just downloaded. Navigate to the "Posting Plaza," where you can submit your Mii, view Miis created by others around the world and exchange Miis with Wii users worldwide. Or you can look for a Mii in a variety of categories such as "fashion" or "athletic" or you can browse through the "most popular" category. Select Miis that you like and import them to your Wii console so that you can populate your games with them.
