Properly Connecting the Nunchuck
Proper use of the Nunchuk should not result in it malfunctioning or breaking. Gently connect the Nunchuck to the bottom of the Wii remote. If the Nunchuk plug does not connect into the Wii remote, do not try to force it or you may break the plug. Turn the Nunchuk plug the other way and try to connect it again.
Liquid Damage
Spilling any kind of liquid inside the small crevices of the Nunchuck will almost always result in a damaged or completely broken Nunchuk. Like most Wii accessories, the Nunchuk is made of several electrical components. If you spill liquid inside the Nunchuk, the component may become fried. A small amount of liquid may not damage anything, but just to be sure, disconnect the Nunchuk from the Wii remote and let it air dry or place it in a bag of rice to soak up the moisture.
Dropping the Nunchuk
The Nunchuk is fairly durable and can normally withstand a drop to the floor. However, if you continually drop the Nunchuk on a hard surface or accidentally throw it, the device will probably break at some point. The Nunchuk does not come equipped with a wrist strap, so exercise extra caution when using it.
Games That Don't Use A Nunchuk
If you've just inserted a Wii game and cannot understand why the Nunchuk is not working, ensure that the game supports the use of a Nunchuk. Not all games use or support the Wii Nunchuk; some games use only the Wii remote. Look on the back of the game box for a Nunchuk icon. If there is not one, then the game is not compatible with the Nunchuk.
Chewed Wires
While the Wii remote is protected against broken or chewed wires, the Nunchuk is not. If your cat or dog has a habit of chewing on wires, store the Nunchuk in a safe place. If the wires are severed, then the Nunchuk will not work. Run your finger along the Nunchuk cord to make sure there are no teeth marks or cracks.
