How to Connect a Wii Controller Online

When you are connected to the Internet on your Nintendo Wii, either playing a game or purchasing a game from the Nintendo Store, you may come across an issue where you need to connect a Wii controller. For example, if your Wii remote runs out of batteries and you must resync the controller with the console to avoid resetting the system. It's helpful to know how to connect a Wii controller in such instances.

  Unsnap the back cover of the Wii controller. Insert two fully charged AA batteries into the back of the Wii remote. Leave the battery cover off.

  Open the SD card slot cover from the front of the Wii.

  Hold down and then release the "Sync" button below the batteries you inserted. The LED on the front of your controller will blink.

  Press and release the "Sync" button from the SD card slot on the Wii. Allow time for the blinking to stop.

  Point your Wii remote at your TV and a hand will appear, which means you have properly connected your controller while connected online.
