How to Set Up a Nintendo to Play Through a Converter Box

If you want to play your Wii on a digital television but have an older, analog TV, you will need a converter box. These boxes are commonplace since the United States switched to digital broadcasting in June 2009. Hooking up your Wii simply involves attaching cables to the back of the converter box.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect your converter box to your TV with the included coaxial cable. Plug one end of this cable into the coaxial output on the back of the box and the other end into the coaxial input on the rear of your television.

    • 2

Plug the power cord of your Wii into an available outlet and position the unit near the converter box.

    • 3

Use the included RCA cables to connect the Wii to the converter box. This is the wire with three colored connectors (red, yellow and white) on each end. Plug the connectors on one end to the appropriately colored output jacks on the back of the Wii. Plug the remaining end into the appropriately colored input jacks on the back of the converter box.

    • 4

Change the channel on your television until the appropriate input mode is reached and you can see your Wii menu onscreen.
