How to Backup Wii DVDs

The Wii is a video game system created and manufactured by Nintendo. The games come in the form of discs. These discs are vulnerable and prone to damage, such as cracks or scratches, which will cause the game disc to not load in the system. And with some Wii games costing $50 or more, it can become very costly to replace game discs. The other alternative is to back up your Wii game to a blank DVD-R disc by burning an image of the game (ISO file) to the DVD disc. You can do this with an ISO burning program, such as ISOburn or MagicISO, which are free from the Internet. To play backup Wii games, your Wii must be modified with a mod chip first, which the article assumes you have done already.

Instructions

    • 1

Download the image file of the Wii game that you want to back up from any ISO-providing Web page.

    • 2

Download and install an ISO file-burning program.

    • 3

Insert a blank DVD-R into your computer's DVD burner. Open and run the ISO-burning program by double-clicking its desktop icon.

    • 4

Choose the "Write" option in the program and choose the selection in which the program is asking for a source. Browse for and select the downloaded Wii ISO file from your hard drive and load it into the program. You do not need to mount the image if this is given to you as one of the options.

    • 5

Click the "Burn" option, usually located at the bottom of the program. This will start the burning process. After the burning is finished, eject the DVD-R disc from your computer. The Wii game is now successfully backed up on the DVD-R disc. The backup should play in your Wii system, again, only if your Wii system is modified.
