How to Play New Super Mario on Softmodded Wii

A "softmodded" Wii is a Nintendo Wii on which after-market software has been installed, which modifies the Wii's desktop operating system. Softmodding your Wii does not prevent you from playing original Nintendo Wii games, such as "Super Mario Bros. Wii." To play "Super Mario Bros. Wii" on a softmodded Wii, first softmod your Wii console.

Things You'll Need

Nintendo Wii with version 4.2 operating system
SD card, minimum of 512MB of space
Softmodding files (see Resources)

Instructions

  Download the Wii softmodding files from the Uploading.com website (see Resources). The files are contained within a ZIP folder. Unzip the files once they are downloaded to your hard drive.

  Insert an SD card into an open SD card slot on your computer. Copy the softmodding files to your SD card.

  Remove the SD card from your computer and insert it into an open SD card slot on your Nintendo Wii.

  Open the SD card menu on the Wii main menu. Open "boot.dol/elf" to run "Bannerbomb," which runs the Hackmii installer. The Hackmii program takes a few minutes to install.

  Restart your Wii. Open the "Homebrew Channel" on the Wii main menu. Open "Multi-Mod Manager (MMM)."

  Scroll down and select "Install &Patch IOS36." When prompted, select "Express Mode" and click on "Remove" (or press the "A" button) each time the program finds a stub.

  Scroll up and open "WAD Manager." Press the "1" button to select all WAD files. Press the "A" button to install them on your Wii. Press the "B" button to return to the main menu.

  Open the "APP Manager." Press the "A" button on "Priiloader." Press the "+" button to install the program.

  Hold the "Reset" button on your Wii and restart your console.

  Open the "System Menu Hacks" menu. Press the "A" button on "Block Disc Updates" and "Block Online Updates." Press the "A" button and "Save Settings."

  Press the "B" button to return to the main menu. Press "A" on "System Menu" to complete softmodding your Wii.

  Insert "Super Mario Bros. Wii" into the disc slot on your Wii. Click on the "Super Mario Bros. Wii" logo in the Game Channel to open and begin playing the game.
