Things You'll Need
Instructions
Check the power to the console. If you are seeing a blank screen or the Wii or Mario Party 8 does not show up on the screen, you may need to either plug in the Wii or turn it on. Check the power light on the console. It will be green if the Wii is on.
Eject the disc from the console and make sure it is put in the correct way. The disc should be inserted into the console so the label that says "Mario Party 8" is facing away from the power and eject buttons. If the disc is in the wrong way, flip it over and re-insert it into the console, turn the power on again and see if the disc reads.
Remove the disc, turn off and unplug the Wii. Check the air vents and make sure they are not blocked or dirty. Plug the Wii in again, turn it on and insert the Mario Party 8 disc.
Remove the disc from the console and check the bottom of the disc for dirt, dust or fingerprints. If it has significant damage, you will need to contact Nintendo or the store where you purchased Mario Party 8 about getting a replacement game. If the game has dirt or grime on it, wet a clean, lint-free cloth with clear water and wipe the disc from the center out to the edge repeatedly until you clean off the entire disc.
Check Nintendo's list of games on their troubleshooting page to see if Mario Party 8 is on the list of games having problems. This list will tell you if there have been reports of problems of a specific game not playing, freezing or having issues and any resolutions.
