How to Set Up the Microphone on Rock Band for the Wii

"Rock Band" offers Nintendo Wii users a way to play their favorite songs and music genres with realistic microphone, guitar and drum controllers. Although there are many "Rock Band" titles for the Wii, such as "Rock Band Country," "The Beatles: Rock Band" and "LEGO: Rock Band," the game's musical controllers are set up in the same way for each title. The microphone, unlike the guitar, does not need to be synchronized to the Wii for it to work; it can simply be plugged in to the console.

  Remove the microphone from the plastic bag inside the "Rock Band" box, and unravel the cord.

  Plug the cord into one of the Wii's open USB ports. Press the "Power" button to turn the Wii on, or insert the "Rock Band" game into the console to turn the Wii on automatically.

  Press any button on a Wii remote to turn it on and sync it to the console. With the "Rock Band" game running, you may use the remote to scroll through menus and sign the microphone in so the game detects it. The remote also changes microphone settings, such as volume.
