My Wii Will Not Recognize Guitar Hero World Tour

Guitar Hero World Tour is a music simulation game for the Nintendo Wii. There are a number of problems that you may encounter that will keep the Wii console from recognizing the "Guitar Hero World Tour" game disc. You can attempt to fix some of the more minor problems yourself by first determining if the game disc or the console itself is defective and then troubleshooting the situation from there.

Things You'll Need

  • Soft cloth
  • Second game disc
  • Wii Lens Cleaner Kit
  • Lens cleaning fluid

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "Eject" button on the face of the Wii console. Remove the game disc.

    • 2

Insert a second game disc into the Nintendo Wii. The title of the game should load automatically into the "Disc" channel of the "Home" menu. If it does not, the problem could be with the console itself.

    • 3

Press "Eject" and remove the disc.

    • 4

Place three drops of cleaning fluid on the exposed portion of the Wii Lens Cleaner Kit cleaning pad.

    • 5

Insert the cleaning pad into the disc slot on the Wii with the blue lines parallel to the slot opening.

    • 6

Wait five seconds and then rotate the handle of the cleaning pad up and down (if the Wii is in a vertical position) or left and right (if the Wii is lying flat) 10-20 times.

    • 7

Position the handle back in the center of the slot and then press the "Eject" button to remove the pad from the Wii.

    • 8

Wipe the shiny side of the game disc with a soft, lint-free cloth from the inside out. Do not wipe in a circular motion.

    • 9

Insert the game disc into the disc slot of the Wii. The label side should face right (if the Wii is upright) or up (if the Wii is lying flat). The game should load into the "Disc" channel.

Contact Nintendo technical support if the problem persists (see Resources).
