How to Choose a Wii

No store could keep the Nintendo Wii in stock when the console first came out. Demand for the Wii is still strong, but it is now in stock in most stores. The Wii comes in bundles, different colors and as a pre-owned system in some video game stores, so it's important to consider the type of Wii you wish to buy before making your purchase. Most stores have a no-return policy on video game systems, so you need to make the right choice when you choose your Wii.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a Nintendo Wii bundle if you want the console plus a specific game. There are several different Wii bundles, but each bundle includes the console itself, at least two controllers, plus either multiple games or one game and accessories. For example, certain "Wii Fit" bundles include the console, the "Wii Fit" game, the "Wii Fit" balance board and two controllers. Bundles are often less expensive than buying the console and game separately.

Choose between a black- or white-colored Wii. As of January 2011, the Nintendo Wii comes in two colors: white and black. The color has no effect on the specifications of the system.

Consider a pre-owned or refurbished Nintendo Wii. Pre-owned Wii's are usually sold by game stores or by the current owner. The upside of a pre-owned Wii is that you'll pay less, but the downside is the system isn't guaranteed to work. Refurbished Nintendo Wii's are sold by game stores and usually come with a guarantee or warranty. You'll pay more for a refurbished Wii than a pre-owned Wii, but the price will still be less than if you bought a brand new Wii.
