How to Hook Wii Up to 480P

Compared to other modern video game systems such as the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the Wii is not a high-definition system. However, with the addition of a Wii component cable (which does not come with the Wii), you can get a 480p resolution on your HDTV. Almost all HDTVs include at least one set of component inputs. The Wii looks its best at the 480p resolution that is ideal for HDTV users. Standard-definition television users will notice little to no difference.

Turn off the Wii and disconnect the standard AV connection. Insert the gray, singular side of the component cable into the "Digital AV Out" port on the back of the Wii. Insert the green, blue and red prongs on the opposite end of the component cable into the green, blue and red component inputs on your television. Connect the separated white and red cables into the white and red AV inputs on your television.
