How to Install a GameCube Memory Card on a Wii

The Wii is able to play the game discs from its predecessor, the GameCube. The Wii is the first Nintendo console with backward compatibility. However, you will need a GameCube memory card in order to store your GameCube save games. They won't save onto an SD card or to the Wii's internal memory bank. All you need to do is find the two GameCube memory card slots behind the Wii's access door.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the access door on the Wii. If your Wii is mounted horizontally, it's on the left side. If it's mounted vertically, it's on the top.

    • 2

Look for the GameCube memory card slots near the back of the console.

    • 3

Insert the memory card into one of the slots so that the label on the card faces the top or right side of the Wii. Press it in firmly and it will click into place.
