How to Put Your Own Simulation Games on the Wii

So, you've created your own homebrew simulation game for the Wii. Compared to the process of programming your own game, getting that game onto your Wii will be a quick and easy task. Playing homebrew games on the Wii requires you to modify your console. This tutorial is a "softmod" process, meaning that no hardware will need to be added or tweaked. However, even though you are not going to be opening up your Wii, be advised that modding your Wii in any way will void your warranty.

SD card
Card reader
USB storage device

  Download the HackMii installer to your computer. This installer can be found on the official Homebrew Channel website. Additionally, you will need an exploit file to allow your Wii to accept third-party software. These exploits include Indiana Pwns, Bannerbomb, the Twilight Hack and Smash Stack. These files can be downloaded from just about any homebrew website. Most exploits will have limitations as to which Wii system versions they are compatible with. Choose the exploit that fits with your Wii.

  Insert your SD card into a card reader. Plug the reader into your computer. Load the installation files and the exploit onto your SD card. Make sure to take a look at the "Read Me" file for your choice of exploit. This file may include installation instructions specific to that file.

  Remove the SD card from the reader and insert it into the Wii. An installation menu will appear. Follow the on-screen prompts as directed. Installation may take several minutes. The Wii will go back to the main menu once the Homebrew Channel has been fully installed.

  Load the homebrew game files from your computer onto a SD card or USB storage device. Plug this device into your Wii.

  Select the Wii Homebrew Channel from the main menu. Select your game from the list of homebrew applications and begin playing.
