How to Modify a Wii to Play SD Cards

The Wii is Nintendo's home gaming console, with movement based controls. Unlike the PlayStation and Xbox, the Wii does not have a built-in hard drive. Using your Wii to play SD cards allows you to store video game saves and other Wii system data on the cards, saving room in the system's memory.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the Wii, and select "System Settings" from the main menu.

    • 2

Click the blue "Forward" arrow twice to reach the third screen.

    • 3

Choose "Wii System Update," and press "A" on the controller.

    • 4

Choose "Yes" to update the Wii. Continue updating until you obtain Wii Menu 4.0, which contains built-in support for SD cards.
