The Rock Band Guitar Won't Keep Connection With the Wii

"Rock Band" is a music simulator game for the Nintendo Wii. Using a guitar peripheral modeled after the instrument, you can simulate the actions of playing guitar to the music in the game. Included with the Wii "Rock Band" guitar is a USB hub that is used to synchronize and power the guitar. If the guitar will not stay connected with the Wii while in use, these troubleshooting steps should resolve the issue as long as the hardware isn't malfunctioning.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the Wii. Disconnect and reconnect the USB hub adapter to the Wii. Plug the USB hub into a working wall outlet.

    • 2

Turn the Wii on. Verify the light on the USB hub is lit and receiving power. Disconnect any Wii remotes connected to the second through fourth player slots. Plug the guitar's USB cable into the USB hub.

    • 3

Start the Rock Band game. Once you've reached the Rock Band main menu, press the "Sync" button on the USB hub and guitar. The lights on the hub and guitar will flash temporarily and eventually stabilize. After this, the guitar should maintain its connection with the Wii. If not, you may need a replacement guitar or USB hub.
