How to Make Backup Files of Wii Games

Nintendo Wii Games come on tiny discs that can become scratched or damaged, making the games unplayable on the console. To keep your games safe and prevent problems, you should back up your Wii game files on a hard drive or backup disc.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate a DVD drive that allows to backup Wii games. Many DVD burning drives are available but not all allow the burning and copying of Wii games. Some of the compatible models are the LG GDR-8164B, LG-8163b, LG-8162b and LG-8161b. Install the drive on your computer by following the instructions provided by the manufacturer.

    • 2

Download the software programs WinRar, Framework 2.0, and Raw Dump 2.0 (see Resources) to their own folder on the Desktop called "Rawdump."

    • 3

Place a Wii game disc into the DVD drive that you installed. Open the "Rawdump" folder located on your desktop by double-clicking on it. Double-click on the Rawdump.exe icon to start the program. A new window will open up. Select the option labeled "Start Dump." This process might take a couple hours depending on the speed of your computer. This will complete the backup of the Wii Game to the hard drive. Burn the backup to a blank DVD with a burning software of your choice.
