How to Read Wii Games

When you inserted a cartridge into your old Nintendo Entertainment System, pressing "Power" loaded the game right away. The information contained on the cartridge was read by the system and the game's main menu would load. For the Nintendo Wii game console, games are read in a slightly different way, in that you have to go through a brief menu on the console before you can load the menu on the game.

  Turn on your Nintendo Wii. The system's main menu will display on your television.

  Insert the game disc that you have chosen to play into the disc reader on the front of your Nintendo Wii.

  Watch your Wii main menu. Once the disc begins to spin inside your Wii and the Wii recognizes that it is a game, an icon for that particular game will appear on your main menu.

  Select the icon for the game on your Wii main menu. This will read the data on the disc, loading the game into memory and displaying its contents on your television set.
