How to Install Wad Games on an SD Card

Nintendo Wii games played on virtual gaming consoles, also known as emulators, are packed into computer files with the extension ".wad" and are available for download on the Internet. Other video gaming companies, such as iD software (the creator of "Doom") have also released .wad files that download directly to your hard drive. To make your .wad files more portable, you can transfer them to a secure digital (SD) card instead of leaving them on your computer's hard drive.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your .wad extraction program and unpack your .wad files. Files with the extension ".wad" are compressed files and need to be unpacked or extracted. Programs such as Zipzag, Bookmark Exporter and Zipsearch extract .wad files (see Resources).

    • 2

Insert your SD card into an open SD card slot on your computer.

    • 3

Open Windows Explorer and click on the folder containing the files extracted from your .wad files.

    • 4

Right-click on the games you wish to transfer to your SD card to open a pop-up menu.

    • 5

      Click "Copy."

    • 6

Right-click on the drive letter representing your SD card slot to open a pop-up menu.

    • 7

Click "Paste" to transfer the games from your hard drive to your SD card.
