How to Make a Purchase From a Wii Virtual Console

The "Virtual Console" accessible via the Nintendo Wii allows you to play a great number of classic games designed for previous Nintendo systems, like the NES, SNES and Nintendo 64. If you never got around to beating the first "Super Mario Bros." back in the late 1980s, you can try your hand again by downloading it and many other classics while your Wii is connected to the Internet.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your Nintendo Wii. From the main menu screen, select the "Wii Shop" channel.

    • 2

Add Wii Points to your account if you do not have enough to cover the cost of the purchase you want to make. Wii Points are a type of virtual currency only used on the Nintendo Wii. You can purchase a Wii Points card from a retailer like Best Buy, and enter the code from the card on Wii Shop, or you can select "Add Wii Points" and "Buy Wii Points with a Credit Card" to purchase points directly from your Nintendo Wii.

    • 3

Navigate through the "Wii Shop" channel until you find the game you want to purchase. Select "Download" from its product page to begin the download and purchasing process.

    • 4

Choose "Yes" to confirm you want to download the title you selected. Your Wii account will be charged for the purchase price of that title.

    • 5

Choose your download destination. You can save your purchase either to a memory card or to your Wii's internal storage device. Once you make this selection, your purchase will be complete, and the files will download.
