How to Download Old Nintendo Games to the Wii Via the Internet

The Nintendo Wii includes a shopping channel that allows you to purchase and download classic video games from previous Nintendo and Sega consoles. WiiWare, located on the Wii Shopping Channel, contains thousands of games and applications that can be stored in the Nintendo Wii memory or on an SD Card. To download old Nintendo games, you must connect your Wii to the Internet with a wired connection or Wi-Fi.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your Nintendo Wii and click the "Wii Shop Channel." Click "Start." Your Wii connects to the Internet.

    • 2

Click "Start Shopping" and then click "Add Wii Points" to purchase Wii Points with a credit card. If you don't have a credit card, you can purchase Wii Points at a retail store such as Wal-Mart and Target and convenience stores. As of January 2011, most games require between 500 and 1,000 Wii Points to purchase. The cost is one cent per Wii Point.
