How to Fix RB2 Can't Accept Game Invites on a Wii

Rock Band 2 is a music rhythm game available for the Nintendo Wii. Players use instrument-shaped controllers to play songs that are displayed on their television screens. While much of the game's content is designed to be played locally, it is also possible to sign into the online Rock Band 2 community and play songs with other people in other locations. However, a poor Internet connection could prevent you from matching up with other players. This problem can be resolved by adjusting your router settings.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a Web browser window and log into your router configuration page. Type the username and password when prompted.

    • 2

Locate your starting IP address, Subnet mask and Local IP address, then write them down. For example, on Linksys routers, you would click "Setup" at the top of the page, then scroll down until you find these fields.

    • 3

Select the "Status" menu and locate the values for "DNS 1", "DNS 2" and "MTU", then write them down as well.

    • 4

Open the "Gaming" menu and select the "DMZ" option.

    • 5

Select the option to enable the DMZ feature, then type a value into the "DMZ Host Address" field that is below the value for the "Starting IP Address." For example, if your starting IP Address is "192.168.1.100", then you could use a value of "192.168.1.99." Write down the address you used, then click the "Save Settings" button.

    • 6

Turn on your Wii, then click the "Wii" button in the lower-left corner of the screen.

    • 7

Select the "Wii Settings" option, then click the "Internet" option.

    • 8

Click the "Connection Settings" button, then choose the "Wireless Connection" option.

    • 9

Select the right arrow on the screen, then choose the "No" option on the "Auto Obtain IP" page.

    • 10

Enter the value that you previously entered as your "DMZ Host Address", then enter the values for the "Subnet Mask" and the "Gateway." Note that the "Gateway" value is the value that you previously wrote down as the "Local IP Address."

    • 11

Click the "No" option on the "Auto obtain DNS" page, then choose the "Advanced" option.

    • 12

Enter the values that you previously recorded for the "DNS 1", "DNS 2" and "MTU" values, then exit the wireless setup menu and choose the "Save" option when prompted.
