How to Remove a Stuck Game From a Wii

The Nintendo Wii console is a gaming console that accepts DVDs for games. The games enter the system after you place the disc in the opening on the front side of the system. As with all electronics, it is possible for the Wii to malfunction, and a disc may get caught inside the system. You can use a few troubleshooting steps to try to get the disc out before you need to send the system to Nintendo for repair.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the Wii and wait a few seconds. Turn it back on again. Press the eject button a few more times to see whether the system ejects the disc.

    • 2

Unplug the AC power adapter. Wait at least a minute before plugging the system back in. Plug it back in and try ejecting the disc again.

    • 3

Hold down the eject button for five to 10 seconds. Wait for the system to make noise, indicating it is attempting to release the game.

    • 4

Tilt the Wii so the game tray faces the floor. Hit the eject button. Gravity may help push out the game.

    • 5

Contact Nintendo if you are unable to remove the disc on your own (see Resources). If your system is under warranty, the company may fix your system for free. If not, you may be charged a repair fee.
