GameCube Promotional Disc
Find a copy of "The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition" for the GameCube. Nintendo released this disc containing several Zelda games, including "Majora's Mask," in 2004 as a promotion through its magazine, "Nintendo Power." Nintendo never sold the disc new in stores, but you may find an old copy in a used game shop.
Turn on the Wii and insert the GameCube disc. Because of the size difference between GameCube and Wii discs, insert the small disc carefully in the center of the slot to load it properly.
Open the side panels on your Wii and plug in a GameCube controller to the port nearest the power button. Insert a memory card with free space into the top card slot. GameCube games played on a Wii cannot save data to the Wii's internal drive, so you must use a memory card.
Select the "Disc Channel" on the Wii's menu and click "Start" to load the game. From the disc's main menu, use the GameCube controller to select "Majora's Mask" from the list of games available.
Virtual Console
Turn on your Wii and select the "Wii Shop Channel" and click "Start." Once the system loads, click "Start Shopping."
Press the "Virtual Console" button to browse available games. The Virtual Console service allows you to buy old games and play them on your Wii. Nintendo released "Majora's Mask" on Virtual Console in 2009.
Click on "Show Games from Other Game Systems" and then on the Nintendo 64 logo. Scroll through the list to find "Majora's Mask" and select it.
Press "Download" to buy the game and then confirm your selection. As of 2010, all Nintendo 64 games on the Virtual Console cost 1,000 Wii Points, equal to $10. You can purchase points in advance in the Wii Shop Channel or add them from a points card bought in a store.
Quit the channel after the download completes by pressing the "Home" button on the remote and selecting "Wii Menu."
Attach either a GameCube controller to the first slot in the console's side panel or a Wii Classic Controller to the bottom of your Wii Remote. The game cannot be played with the Wii Remote alone.
Your new copy of "Majora's Mask" will appear in one of the channel slots on the Wii's main menu. Select it and press "Start" to begin the game. Virtual Console games save data to internal memory, so you do not need a memory card.
