My Wii Disk Will Not Stay In

A disc that will not stay inserted in the Nintendo Wii console is an indication of a disc or console issue. The Wii will automatically eject any inserted disc that it can't read. You can resolve disc issues yourself; console issues will need to be resolved by Nintendo. If your console is still under warranty, there might not be a fee for any repairs. If you need to send in the console for repair, Nintendo can't guarantee that your saved data will not be lost.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the disc by wiping it with a damp and soft cotton cloth. Use only water to dampen the cloth. Wipe the disc using straight strokes across both sides of it, and wipe the outside rim of the disc. Dry the disc with a dry towel.

    • 2

Insert the clean disc into the Wii disc tray. If the disc still won't stay in, go to Step 3.

    • 3

Insert another game disc into the Wii disc tray. If you don't have problems with the new game disc, the problem is your original game disc.

    • 4

Look for cracks and scratches on the game disc. A scratched or cracked game disc will need to be replaced.

Set up a repair for your Wii console, if no game disc will stay inserted in the disc tray. You will need to send the console and any game disc that is causing the problem to Nintendo. To set up a repair, see Resources.
