The Drum Set Does Not Work in My Guitar Hero for Wii

The popular Guitar Hero series includes eight titles on Nintendo Wii, allowing players to rock along to classic tracks not only on guitar and bass but also, since the release of Guitar Hero World Tour, on drums with a foot pedal and cymbals. Guitar Hero instruments use the Wii remote's wireless capability to connect to the Wii console. If you are having problems with the drum controller, you can troubleshoot the problem.

Instructions

    • 1

Make sure the batteries in your Wii Remote are charged and working.

    • 2

Sync your Wii remote to your Wii console. Press the red "Sync" buttons on your Wii remote (located underneath the battery cover) and your Wii (located underneath the SD card slot cover) in quick succession. When the blue LEDs on your Wii remote stop blinking, the remote is connected.

    • 3

Open the Wii remote compartment cover on your drum controller and plug the connector inside into the bottom of your Wii remote. Place the Wii remote in the controller compartment and replace the cover.

    • 4

Check that the cables for the cymbals and drum pedal are connected securely to the drum kit. Try swapping the cymbals around.

    • 5

Ensure the drum controller you are using is compatible with your game. While official Guitar Hero drum controllers should work with all Guitar Hero games with drum support, you may encounter problems using Rock Band or other drum controllers in older Guitar Hero games. Guitar Hero World Tour, Guitar Hero: Metallica, Guitar Hero: Van Halen and Guitar Hero: Smash Hits are compatible only with Guitar Hero drum controllers. Guitar Hero 5 and Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock are compatible with Rock Band 1, Rock Band 2 and Rock Revolution drum controllers.

Contact Activision for a replacement drum kit if you cannot resolve the problem.
