Wasabi Wii Clip Troubleshooting

The Wasabi modchip is a plug-and-play device that enables the use of homebrew and third-party games on the Wii. Connecting a modchip to your Wii drive is not difficult, but given the delicate nature of your console's hardware, it is not uncommon for problems to arise. Be aware that modding your Wii will void your warranty. As you will be on your own with any physical damage that occurs while repairing your modchip, make sure to work slowly and carefully.

Instructions

Make sure that your modchip is installed correctly. Verify that the chip is facing the correct direction. Check the power wires connected to points 3V3 and GND. If the power wires have come loose, they will need to be reattached.

Set the dip switch on your modchip to reflect your console's geographic region. Dip switches are small and white, and are located within a black box. Use a small tool (such as a pen or a pair of tweezers) to flick the switches into the correct position. The regional dip switch settings for the Wasabi chip are:

      JAP: 1 off, 2 off

      USA: 1 on, 2 off

      PAL: 1 off, 2 on

      KOR: 1 on, 2 on

Turn on your Wii console. Press "A" on the Wiimote. Once the main menu has loaded, quickly press the "Eject" button three times. After 10 seconds, the option for the configuration menu should appear in the top left corner of your screen. If you cannot see this menu, then there is likely a physical problem with your Wasabi chip. If this is the case, contact the distributor regarding a replacement.
