How to Connect the Nintendo Wii to the Internet With an AirCard

Connecting your Wii to the Internet allows you to play multiplayer games online, browse websites, download virtual console games, get Wii software updates and obtain Wii Channels. You can use a wireless router, a wired broadband connection or a mobile broadband router with an AirCard to get your Wii online. A mobile broadband router uses the AirCard to broadcast wireless signals the same way a standard wireless router does. The only difference is that the AirCard connects a device to the Internet using a mobile telephone signal.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the AirCard to its corresponding mobile broadband router. Follow the specific instructions that came with router. Power on the devices once you have them fully configured so they can broadcast a wireless signal.

    • 2

Power on your Wii and point at the "Wii" icon and press "A." Click the "Wii Settings" button and scroll through the options until you find the "Internet" button. Click any of the open Internet connections that haven't been configured.

    • 3

Click "Wireless Connection," and then click the "Search for an Access Point" button. You will see a prompt window asking you to choose from one of the available access points. Click "OK."

    • 4

Click the AirCard connection. By default, the connection will be named after the AirCard manufacturer. Click "OK" to confirm that you want to use that connection, and then click the "Save" button.

    • 5

Update your Wii if prompted to do so. Follow the onscreen instructions to update the firmware. Restart the Wii and click on the "Internet Channel" to connect to and browse the Internet.
