How to Get a Wii to Work With HDTV

Connect your Nintendo Wii to an high definition television to heighten your entertainment experience. The Nintendo Wii comes boxed with regular RCA composite cables. To get the Wii to work with HDTV and display a slightly higher resolution than standard, you will need a Wii component video cable. As of December 2010, the cable retails for about $30 and is available to purchase directly from the Nintendo website.

Instructions

      Insert the DC connector of the AC adapter into the DC input slot on the back of the Wii. Insert the AC plug into an available wall outlet.

      Position the Wii's sensor bar above or below your television. Place the bar so it's centered with the television. Plug the sensor bar cord into its slot on the back panel of the gaming console.

      Insert the red and white audio plugs of the component cable into the red and white audio jacks on your HDTV.

      Insert the blue, green and red video plugs of the component cable into the blue, green and red video jacks on your HDTV.

      Plug the other end of the component cable into the matching port on the back of the Wii.
