How to Reset a Classic Wii Controller

The Nintendo Wii sensor bar and remote control provide an innovative way to interact with your favorite video games. If you are experiencing problems with your Wii remote, troubleshoot the controller. Performing a reset on the Wii remote can clear up a number of issues currently afflicting the device. After you reset the Wii remote, resync it with your Wii console.

  Remove the battery cover from the back of the Wii remote.

  Remove the batteries from the battery compartment.

  Reinsert the batteries after waiting one minute.

  Turn on your TV and the Wii console.

  Open the small flap on the Wii console when the "Health and Safety" screen appears. This will reveal a red "Sync" button.

  Press and hold the "Sync" button on the Wii console for 15 seconds.

  Press the red "Sync" button next to the battery compartment of the Wii remote.

  Press the "Sync" button on the Wii. The blue LED indicators on the front of the Wii remote will stay lit.

  Replace the battery cover on the back of the Wii remote.
