How to Check for Wii Updates

The Nintendo Wii can be connected online for online matchmaking in multiplayer games, downloadable content (such as Wii Channels) and other services, such as Netflix. Periodically, Nintendo releases firmware updates for the Wii. These updates may correct common issues with the Wii hardware and games or implement new features. Once you've applied an update, there is no way to roll back to an older firmware.

     Select the "Wii" icon on the bottom of the Wii Channel Menu. Select "Wii Settings."

     Select the arrow on the right side of the Wii Settings screen until you reach Wii System Settings Menu 3.

     Select "Wii System Update." When prompted, select "Yes." Select "I Accept" to accept the terms of use. The Wii will check for any new system updates and automatically apply any that are found.
