How to Play Your Virtual Console Games With an SD Card

In March of 2009, Nintendo released version 4.0 of the Wii Menu, which allows users to play Virtual Console games from SD cards in order to save space in the Wii's memory. Once you pay for and download a game from the Wii Store, you can delete it from your Wii's memory, return to the Wii store and download it without having to buy it again. However, with the new SD card menu, you can manage your Wii games without having to delete and redownload them ever again.

Instructions

    • 1

Load the SD card into the SD card slot on your Wii and then turn the console's power on.

    • 2

Allow the Wii menu to load. Move the cursor over the "Wii Settings" icon at the lower left corner of the screen. Press "A" to select it.

    • 3

Click on the "Data Management" button, and then click the "Wii Channels" button. This will bring up all of the Wii Channels, including Virtual Console games, that are downloaded to your Wii's memory. Click on any game you want to copy to your SD card, and then click the "Copy" button.
